Leaning Into the Fear of the Unknown and Taking Complete Control
You may be wondering how these two subjects relate. Well, I am here to tell you that they definitely do – and what you can do today to increase your confidence in these areas more than you might think.
In the Book of Proverbs, it says that “in the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence” (Proverbs 14:26). When taking charge of one’s health, it is sometimes just as much about courage as it is a call to action. No matter how great or small, there are always positive outcomes that emerge from taking that first step in the right direction. Whether it’s joining the local gym, meeting with a nutritionist, or making that doctor’s appointment for a recommended screening you’d rather not do, your future self will thank you. What’s the worst that could happen? The more practice we can make in being assertive and taking actionable steps toward greater wellness, the more naturally it will come. Clarity comes from action, and sometimes all we need to do is start. Don’t be afraid to take that step of faith!
There was a time in my life when I was going through a healing process, and I remember the hesitation and doubt before deciding to reach out to a couple of different professionals. Let me tell you, my journey would not have been the same without it, and looking back, I am very glad that I did. And, you can too!
When we take into account doing the things that we know would be beneficial to us but we just don’t know where to start, or maybe we don’t know how to get there, you are not alone. Most of us have the basic skills and educational background in order to make a change to our personal health. However, what many people are lacking in is the self-efficacy, or confidence and motivation in order to follow through, on a behavior change. This is where a health professional (like a health coach) can come in.
For many women, confidence is largely connected to their health as well as their physical appearance. When the two are out of sync, it can really affect them emotionally and mentally in a number of ways, ranging from body image issues and disordered eating to mental health struggles and other emotional challenges. When this is happening, it is crucial to seek the guidance of a trusted professional who can help – before it’s too late. You don’t have to walk the journey alone, and there are people who can guide you on a healthier and happier path. (For additional resources, see the links at the bottom of this page.)
